such和for example都是表示“像，例如，諸如”的意思。1) for example用來舉例說明某一論點或情況，一般只舉同類人或物中的“一個”為例，作插入語，可位于句首、句中或句末，后面應加逗號隔開。例如：I like ball games，for example，volleyball and basketball。我喜歡球類運動，比如棒球和籃球。2) such as用來列舉事物時，一般列舉同類人或事物中的幾個例子。插在被列舉的事物與前面的名詞之間，as后面不可有逗號。例如：English is spoken in many countries，such as Australia and Canada。許多國家都講英語，例如澳大利亞和加拿大。fall與drop兩者都可表示“掉”、“落”，區別如下：1) 表示從高處往下掉或降，兩者有時可互換。例如：The temperature has dropped [fell]。氣溫降低了。He dropped [fell] from the top of the building。他從屋頂掉了下來。2) 1) fall表示“落下”，多指無意識的行為，有自然墜落之意，且通常是不及物動詞。例如：Rain began to drop [fall]。開始下起雨來了。2) drop既可指無意的行為，即表示“落下”(不及物)，也可指有意的行為，即表示“投下”(及物)。例如：Drop the hammer down to me。把錘子扔下來給我。He dropped the letter into the mail-box。他把信投入信箱。3) Medical supplies are being dropped to the stricken area。目前正將醫藥用品空投到災區。
