藝術,這一常常被視作高雅且遙不可及的存在,實際上貫穿于我們的日常生活之中,它可以 manifested in a song, a gallery exhibition, or an experience. An art-enriched life is one filled with joy and beauty. Art is ubiquitous in life, and this is certainly true in our family. During my first summer vacation in first grade, my mother took me to a string instrument training class. Before I even understood what was happening, a kind grandfather handed me a strange object, and a big brother showed me how to hold it, explaining that it was called a "erhu." Thus began my journey of learning to play the erhu. At first, the novelty was quite exciting. At that time, I was naive and unaware of the difficulties of learning a string instrument. I would come home from school every day, pick up my erhu, and practice switching between the inner and outer strings, finding it fascinating. However, after a period of time, the novelty wore off, and I began to experience the "hardships" of learning the erhu.Firstly, tuning the erhu was challenging because it lacks the fixed pitch of instruments like the flute or guzheng. Therefore, one must rely on their ears to find the correct notes, which requires a significant amount of practice. Secondly, I was naturally a slow learner, finding it extremely difficult to master fast bowing techniques. Hours of practice yielded little progress, leading to tears and frustration. As I progressed in my erhu studies, the difficulty of the pieces I played increased. However, I no longer felt the same sense of annoyance as before but began to find joy in it. While mastery was important, the process of overcoming difficulties was even more so. I used music to express my happiness and to vent and convey my emotions when I was sad, channeling my feelings into the erhu, which perhaps is the best way to express them. Learning the erhu has truly been "beneficial" for me.Learning the erhu has not only given me a skill but has also taught me the resilience to overcome challenges and a positive mental state. To this day, I have learned how to manage my emotions effectively, preventing myself from becoming overwhelmed and nervous before significant events and thus not performing at my best. Moreover, studying a musical instrument has improved my musicality and cultivated my aesthetic sense, enriching my extracurricular life and surrounding it with the fragrance of art.Art is essential for the beauty in life, and life is necessary for art to exist. Art is everywhere in life; it does not require deliberate discovery. Beauty and art arise naturally.
